About the Authors
Assoc Prof Dr Mohd Yazid bin Zul Kepli obtained his Bachelor’s degree from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in 2005. Shortly thereafter, he pursued his Master’s degree and Shari’ah Diploma from the same institution. Dr Mohd Yazid then earned his PhD in law at the University of Hong Kong (HKU).
Currently, Dr Mohd Yazid serves as a law lecturer and consultant at IIUM. Prior to this, he practised law as an advocate and solicitor and was a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He worked at the HKU for a few years. Dr Mohd Yazid possesses extensive practical experience in various legal realms, such as shipping and logistics law, construction law, anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing, international trade law, and Islamic finance. His recent publications include Cryptocurrency and Digital Assets Law in Malaysia, Shipping and Logistics Law in Malaysia, and Halsbury’s Laws of Malaysia – “Anti-Money Laundering Law”.
Aside from his professional commitments, Dr Mohd Yazid actively engages in teaching, curriculum development, and research within these specialised areas. He dedicates his free time to conducting seminars and delivering presentations on legal career opportunities in schools and universities.
Allan Suman Pillai graduated from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) with LLB (Hons) and also the University of Malaya (UM) with LLM. He is a Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) at the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC). He has extensive experience in handling money laundering cases at the High Court of Malaya, the Court of Appeal and the Federal Court of Malaysia. He has previously served as a DPP at the Prosecution and the Appellate & Trial Divisions of the AGC, the Taiping prosecutor’s office and the offices of the State Legal Advisors of Perak, Perlis and Kedah. He also served as a Senior Federal Counsel (SFC) at the Ministry of Works and as the Pahang State Civil Director at the Pahang State Legal Advisor’s Office. Allan Suman teaches the Postgraduate Diploma in International Law Enforcement: Anti-Corruption Studies at the Nottingham Trent University (NTU). |
