About the Author
 
Professor Kulenthran Arumugam graduated with an MBBS from the University of Singapore in 1975. He found his niche in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and went on to obtain his MRCOG in 1982. He then joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University of Malaya Medical Centre the following year as a Lecturer. He rose through the ranks and was appointed full Professor and Senior Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 1991. He was elevated to a Fellow of the Royal College in 1992. He has the rare distinction of a clinician holding two doctoral degrees, the MD and PhD, both from the University of Malaya. He developed a deep interest in the law and as an external student, obtained the LLB (Hons) from the University of London in 1999. He has been called upon as an expert witness on numerous occasions. In addition, he is a member of the Preliminary Investigation Committee of the Malaysian Medical Council charged with the responsibility of assessing professional misconduct of registered medical practitioners in the country. Because of his wealth of clinical experience and legal expertise he has invited on numerous occasions to talk on legal issues concerning the medical profession. This vast expertise and experience in medical law as it affects the clinician has been put down in writing in this book.
